InterWined.com supports the concept of buying local as much as possible. It is a trend that is gaining momentum, especially in the United States, and we hope it’s here to stay. Better for the economy, better for the environment.

So, when we received an e-mail this moring for consultancy firm Weber Shandwick, we thought it proper to post (even if we have yet to check out the Web site, yikes!):

British Fine Foods, the firm that sources quality local ingredients to provide customers with the best of British speciality food products, announces the successful completion of its first month of trading.

Via the Web site BritishFineFoods consumers can access a wide range of quality local British food from around the Country with the convenience of one delivery to their doorstep. The service is provided across a selection of food groups and every product has a guaranteed provenance allowing full traceability back to source. British Fine Foods chooses experienced and reliable suppliers who have won Gold Awards at the Great Taste Awards, or are holders of a Royal Warrant.

British Fine Foods offers customers membership to its online ‘Food Club’ which entitles them to automatic four weekly home deliveries of fresh seasonal food including meats and cheeses, as well as items from the deli and pantry. Also available online is a range of gift hampers containing an impressive selection of seasonal produce.

Managing Director Andrew Harper says: “Too readily we look overseas for the best of produce: French cheeses, Italian meats, Belgium chocolate etc and in so doing we overlook the wealth of treasures available to us within the UK. We launched British Fine Foods to offer quality home grown produce to those customers that want easy access to the finest of British speciality food products.”

I found this website a month ago and have already purchased a hamper and other produce. All have been excellent and I look forward to them extending their range.Great to see someone who has taken the initiative in promoting British produce whilst at the same time doing their bit to reduce food miles.
