Liquid Refreshment

InterWined is not a huge fan of white wines that are not dry at all.

There is something unsettling about drinking white wine without a bit of pucker.

Torrontes is a white wine grape that is considered 100% Argentinean. It is widely grown in the Calchaquies Valleys, as is the 2007 La Esperanza new to Marks & Spencer, for £6.49. The typical floral aromatics are overflowing here: jasmine, lycee, rosewater. The wine is crispy and has some minerality, but no zip. It is also kind of sappy on the way down. But, all in, not so bad. 8.3 points.

crispy? that to me indicates acidity but you say it has no zip (acidity again). Me confused (easily accomplished)!

So was there a little sweetness that cancelled out the ‘zip’?

Yeah, crispy does sound kinda confusing, come to think of it… if memmory serves, the wine was tart in the middle palatte, which I describe as crispy… but was not acidic enough to creat that same sense around the rest of the mouth… indicating a lack of overall harmony…
