Liquid Refreshment

Being actors, the fools here at InterWined couldn’t help but notice a wine from Drama. Yes, Drama, a region near the Adriatic in Greece. Available at Oddbins for £12.49. There are two types of labels for this wine, the clean and the dirty, both are available to view at Nestor Imports.

InterWined went for the dirty label, of course, we’re actors!

NOTE: Friend in Houston, they have a Texas distributor. Find him here.

At any rate, the 2004 Amethystos itself is decent. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and the Greek variety Limnio. It’s nice to have a red wine from this area filled with red vines fruits, mainly a touch of wild raspberry, as if is was plucked from the Ozarks themselves and chucked into this wine.

The Amethystos gets 8.7 points for being so enjoyable and may have gotten more had it not been so damn egotistical. But, hey, it’s an actor after all, and we are all great.

On the other hand, the 2006 Notios made from the hills surrounding Nemea in Greece, is nearly five pounds cheaper, and also available at Oddbins. This wine has a swashbuckling finish of salty leather. Serious. It’s a bit rougher around the edges, as it is made with the Greek varietal Agiortiko, a grape quickly becoming one of InterWined’s favorites. Nice nose, nice body: 8.8 points, for such a good price.

Let me know if you like them… or if you hate them… we’re very curious.

Glad you liked the tip.
