Liquid Refreshment

After a Friday night party at a bar in North London, where InterWined.com shamelessly self-promoted (poorly) and, after a bottle of, sadly, forgettable Champagne, a miracle pairing hit: Hungarian Pinot Grigio goes great with Bacon and Banana pizza!

Look, InterWined knows most of you are thinking, ‘eeewwww…BACON on a pizza?’

But it worked really well. The mild citrus of the Pinot Grigio, combined with subdued acidity, cut through the salty, smoky fat. The sinuous banana fibers parted to either side of the tongue and let the wine pass without toll. Wonderful. 8.8 points.

However, upon further testing, Hungarian Pinot Grigio does not go well with an Asparagus and Chorizo pizza.

Yes, Interwined knows what you are thinking…

It’s true. The Banana & Bacon pizza was a great match. In fact, I was thinking of making it myself.

Yes, good idea! Make it yourself, just don’t forget to share with me.

Banana and bacon pizza? (I did a double take when I read that in your comment, and then again, in my newsfeed!).

I am so liking the sound of it that I will have to sneak an attempt during the week when it is only I that’ll do the guinea pig honors. Eh, maybe the dog too.

P.S. Loved your “first meal” memory. Lamb ranks first over beef in this house.
