Liquid Refreshment

Lunch out at Canary Wharf in London at a kind spot called ‘The Gun’ with a source at HSBC. InterWined decided to put an English wine to task:

The Lamberhurst Vineyard Curious Grape Flint Dry, £5 per glass (in this case, an alarmingly thick wineglass) versus two truffle and wild mushroom dishes.

Little was know of the Flint Dry, and even less was written on the menu.

Further research says four grapes blended over many vintages. A bit thin, but somewhat crisp and clean. Very medium with a long dry finish. Fun to say, “Look who’s drinking English wine”.

But, sadly, no match for truffles. The dirt-based tuber tore the wine up, and left the poor Flint Dry with a black eye. Not a bad wine, just the wrong dish. Curious Grape. By itself, very cold: 8.5. With strong, aromatic food…don’t do it.

There should be more information. As InterWined’s banker friend would put it, ‘good fluidity needs good transparency’.
